Goals & History

Geneva Woods Ear, Nose & Throat Associates has established the goal of providing the highest quality medical care for our patients throughout Alaska. Also known as “GWENT”, the clinic was founded in 1976 by J. David Williams, M.D., who is now retired.

Appointment Scheduling

Geneva Woods Ear, Nose & Throat Associates is pleased to provide minimal wait times for your appointments. No referrals are needed and we also offer same day appointments. Our offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00pm. We provide services throughout Alaska, holding clinics in Wasilla, Kenai, Homer, Kodiak, Cordova and Valdez.

Please call (907) 563-3515 or toll free 800-478-3396. The toll free number is not a 24-hour number—it can only be used to schedule appointments during working hours.

To schedule surgery call (907) 563-3515 option #4 or call directly to (907) 561-2137.

For billing or insurance payment questions should be directed to our accounting service, Anderson and Lore, who can be reached at (907) 770-9600.

24-Hour Medical Assistance is available at (907) 563-3515 — we always have a doctor on call. Any life-threatening emergency should immediately go to the nearest hospital emergency room and then request the emergency room to contact our clinic's on-call physician.

What We Offer

Many of our patients are familiar with the ENT services we provide and the options available to them. Our newest addition is an on-site CAT scan. We pride ourselves on being the first ENT practice in Alaska to offer this convenient service. We also provide the following:

  • Head & Neck Cancer Surgery Most head and neck cancers produce early symptoms. You should know the possible warning signs so you can alert your doctor to your symptoms as soon as possible. Remember - successful treatment of head and neck cancer can depend on early detection.
  • Sinus Endoscopic Surgery This procedure involves the insertion of the endoscope, a very thin fiber-optic tube, into the nose for a direct visual examination of the openings into the sinuses. With state-of-the-art micro-telescopes and instruments, abnormal and obstructive tissues are then removed. In the majority of cases, the surgical procedure is performed entirely through the nostrils, leaving no external scars. There is little swelling and only mild discomfort.
  • Sleep Disorder Heavy snorers, those who snore in any position or are disruptive to the family, should seek medical advice to ensure that sleep apnea is not a problem. Ask us about the Pillar Procedure!
  • Oral Maxillofacial Surgery Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery includes the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, injuries and defects involving both the functional and esthetic aspects of the hard and soft tissues of the upper jaw.

Located in the same medical-surgical complex is Geneva Woods Surgical Center, a surgical facility that specializes in outpatient surgery. It has state-of-the-art equipment for anesthesia, carbon dioxide laser surgery, otologic surgery, cosmetic and reconstructive surgery and other ENT/head-neck surgical procedures. Geneva Woods Surgical Center is owned by a group of investors which include some of the physicians in our practice. Most of our outpatient surgery is conveniently scheduled at this facility. Our surgeons also have staff privileges at the local hospitals, allowing us to schedule both inpatient and outpatient surgery at the hospitals when needed.
